Antiques Exhibition XXI Biennial


This year the 21st International Antiques Fair, the oldest in Italy and one of the most important of its kind in the world, will again be held from September 25th to October 10th in splendid Palazzo Corsini, situated on the banks of the Arno. Many well known antique dealers from Italy and abroad will be exhibiting antiques from various sectors, so as to display a wide range of schools and styles from all periods and origins.

The works presented at Palazzo Corsini will include an important pair of large Rococò period mirrors, a charming guéridon by Luigi Falcini, matching examples of Venetian furniture (1700), a pair of consoles in sculpted wood (18th century). Paintings include a St. Jerome by Matteo di Giovanni, the Annunciation by Francesco di Stefano, known as Pesellino, the Portrait of Niccolò Machiavelli by ***Ridolfo del Ghiralandaio***, Windmill by Rembrandt Van Rijn, The Banquet at the Swan Inn by Peter Brueghel the Younger, Democritus by Jusepe De Ribera, known as Spagnoletto, and many others. Also many precious objects of art, majolicas and porcellains together with, among the jewellery on display, a rare collection by Andrew Grima. Last, but not least, an exceptional bakshaish carpet.
As soon as the Biennale closes, Palazzo Corsini will be hosting the other exhibitions that complete this event: the III Antiquarian Book Fair and CartAntica, II Master Prints and Drawings Fair. This event will be accompanied by two side exhibitions: Books prints and drawings. Instruments and souvenirs from the "Grand Tour" and an philatelic exhibition with Italian Postage stamps issued from 1901 to 1930.
