The Uccellina Nature Park

If you want to spend a really unique few days in the midst of nature, where you can go on plenty of long walks in really unspoiled countryside, with the chance to see wild animals in their natural habitat, you might consider a visit to the Uccellina Nature Park in the Maremma area (Grosseto). Accomodation is available on various farms almost all of which keep a few animals (you can help with the milking!), and are surrounded by arable land. The villages nearest to the park are Alberese (where there is an office that organizes visits, gives information and advice on the various itineraries and sells the entrance tickets to the park) and Rispescia. Horse trecking is also available. The park, covered in woods and typical Mediterranean vegetation, borders onto the coast (Marina di Alberese), which can be reached by car, though this depends on whether there is room in the car park (the alternative is a little bus that runs regularly from the centre of Alberese). The beach is long and sandy and edged in one side by splendid pine trees and wild undergrowth. A unique experience. For information on the park and help with accomodation phone 0564/407098.
